: 6 3/4″ x 50
Vitola: Perfecto (Diadema)
Wrapper: Connecticut Shade
Origin: Dominican Republic
From the Vault: I’ve been sitting on this one for about two years and I thought now is as good a time as any to try it!
Very limited and very expensive, this cigar was made by Davidoff to celebrate the posthumous 100th birthday of the company’s founder Zino Davidoff.
This is a big cigar by Davidoff standards, not only ring gauge but in complexity. They do not roll the Diadema shape under a normal production line.
As expected this cigar looks beautiful and draws well once you get past the tiny tip at the foot.
At first the cigar is very mild. It is woody and toasty with a hint of earth, very much like a Davidoff from the Classic line.
A third of the way through it picked up a little bit strength and flavor wise. It became richer and in addition to the flavors above a rich coffee bean flavor danced around my tongue.
At this point, the wrapper to crack a little bit, but it is also humid outside today on my porch.
The coffe flavor morphed into a café au lait kinda thing, with a rich creaminess to the finish.
Halfway through, I start to pick up a subtle licorice note and I must point out the the burn is still dead on even!
The last half was wonderful rich and flavorful. Amazing cigar!
