Sorry for the tardiness on this post…
This is the third of six blind reviews, 3 from me and 3 from Matt from Matt’s Cigar Journal. Click here for the rules to the contest. Note that all cigars Matt gave me to smoke were from the same manufacturer, so hopefully after smoking all three I can put it together…
Cigar #3 is equally as rustic looking to me as the first cigar from the Project. Looking at the foot i see lots of black tobacco coursing through the filler – this one may be a doozy!
The pre-light draw is slightly firm but opens up when I light it.
The first puff was in your face pepper with a hint of mineral.
The first cigar gave me the impression I was smoking a Nicaraguan puro, but this one has hints of Honduran flavors in it. So I am now back to Square One in my guess.
The ash was gray and firm, but fell off quickly.
The spice and pepper where present through most of the smoke. It was also very young tasting. With the mineral notes I got lots of citrus and the occasional whiff of ammonia.
So I was originally thinking Oliva and Viaje as possible candidates but I am removing Oliva from the running and adding Rocky Patel as he uses a lot of multi-country leaf in his blends. Hopefully the last cigar will make it easy for me…
