The Go-To Cigar List

Here’s a list that will be updated somewhat regularly of some of my favorite “Go-To Cigars”. These cigars are consistent and fit most of my everyday cigar requirements – under 10 bucks and have a consistent blend and reliable construction.

AVO Domaine - This cigar does push the price requirement but it is worth it. Never fail, it gives you a very rich, complex medium body and strength smoke that never fails on construction. The <10> is where its at. Try aging this one (Review for aged Domaine <10>).

Bolivar Petite Corona - If I had one everyday Habanos, this is it. The Partagas Short is a close second, but the Bolivar Petite Corona is more consistent when it comes to construction. Spicy by Cuban standards, this cigar is leathery and has that quintessential Cuban “mustiness”.

Cruzado – This is probably the best new cigar for 2008. Made by the creators of Illusione, this cigar is spicy, earthy and complex and will blow you away time and time again. Try the perfecto, which to me is the best of the line (here’s the review for the Marelas).

Cruzado

La Flor Dominicana Cameroon Cabinet - This is what I mean by “Cameroon”. Great Cameroon flavor that builds as you smoke it. Made with a special “Cameroon Ligero” wrapper, this cigar has a little extra kick.  Plus they age like champs!

La Flor Dominicana Reserva Especial “El Jocko” - A cigar that can be smoked anytime.  Flavorful, but not too strong the tiny perfecto is available in a Natural or Maduro version.  Both are fantastic!

Padron – Duh.  This line is available in a myriad of sizes under 10 bucks.  One of the few lines where I prefer the Maduro over the Natural, although the Natural is also very good.  This Nicaraguan gem is an oft forgotten cigar that takes a backseat to all of the new “hot” releases”.  Rediscover the original Padron line.  Try the Ambassador size, you won’t be disappointed.

Partagas Spanish Rosado – a guilty pleasure of mine, these are tasty and consistent with lots of leather flavor.

Perdomo Reserve Champagne- This cigar is what most “value-priced” Connecticut-wrapped cigars aspire to be. This is a rich and flavorful creamy cigar that while it is full in body it is nice and mild in construction. My favorite size in this line is the Robusto. A review for the figurado, also good, is located here.
